BRIEF OVERVIEW:
Unlovable is the story of a pug that
is constantly made fun of because of his looks by all the neighborhood dogs,
and even the family cat. Soon new neighbors move in next-door and Alfred makes
a new friend. However his new friend cannot see him because of the fence
separating them. Although the two have a lot in common Alfred lies to his
friend, Rex, and tells him that he is a different dog than a pug. One day Rex
digs a hole under the fence and to his surprise finds a Pug instead of a big
dog. To Alfred’s surprise Rex looks just like him. In the end Alfred sees that
he is not unlovable.
INTEGRATED ACTIVITY: Students can illustrate something about themselves that is different
than other students and something that is similar. The teacher can explain that
all people are different but we love everyone just the way they are.
