Welcome to: A Book or Two: Children's Literature Reviews, a blog site that offers information on new, classic, and favorite children's literature, reviewed by university professors, classroom teachers, librarians, and those studying to become teachers. BRIEF OVERVIEW: A boy must spend the summer with his grandma in the woods. After a while he finds a raft near the water. His experience opens wide. He discovers new animals, birds and fish.
INTEGRATED ACTIVITY: After reading The Raft and using popsicle sticks, create a raft for Nicky to travel down the river. Also paint birds and other animals on the raft that you have seen in the book and in the wild.
