BRIEF OVERVIEW: A goldfish tells the audience about his life in his
small bowl. Each day something new is added until it is overcrowded. When the
goldfish becomes angry he is finally put in his own bowl again. However, he
realizes he misses the chaos. In the end he is reunited with his tank and a new
friend who is just like him.
INTEGRATED ACTIVITY: Read the book to the class. Discuss
the addition of new fish each day to the bowl. Have the students get in front of the class and show the addition of fish to the bowl by
having each student move to a spot in the classroom that is “the bowl”. As you
are doing this discuss the adding of the fish, “We have two fish in the bowl
and then we add one more. How many do we have?” Then have students try it on their own at their desks.
