We hope you will find "just the right book" to share with others. Our goal is to keep the site updated with information about children's authors, book awards, and new releases. Each entry will include the book cover picture, a brief overview, bibliographic information, and suggested uses for families, librarians, and teachers.  Integrated Activity: Students will take a classic poem (i.e. Edgar Allan Poe's Annabel Lee) and create their own illustrations based off things they experience or like (i.e. them with their favorite doll or a loved pet).

The Giving Tree

GENRE:  Classic     READING LEVEL:  6 years of age
BRIEF OVERVIEW:  This book is about a little boy and a tree.  The tree loved the little boy because everyday he would go to the tree and eat her apples, swing from her branches and slide down her trunk.  As the boy got older he wanted more from the tree and the tree gave and gave to the little boy. 
INTEGRATED ACTIVITY:  Have each child draw and color a giving tree.  Then have children list the people that are always giving to them.
