AUTHOR/ILLUSTRATOR: Nancy Davis
PUBLISHER: Cartwheel Books PUBLICATION DATE: 2010
GENRE: Children’s
Toy Book READING LEVEL: Ages 3-6
BRIEF OVERVIEW: This is a great example of a toy book. There are fun
masks to try on a girl and boy character to show the spirit of Halloween to the
youngest readers. Toddlers can also pretend
carving their own jack-o’-lantern by flipping the pages to change the pumpkins
face.
INTEGRATED ACTIVITY: The teacher will let each child have the opportunity to create their
own pumpkin using paint. They will paint their own pumpkin and the teacher will
paint their hands to make the leaves over their pumpkin. The teacher will then
let the students make their own masks.
