Welcome to: A Book or Two: Children's Literature Reviews, a blog site that offers information on new, classic, and favorite children's literature, reviewed by university professors, classroom teachers, librarians, and those studying to become teachers. We hope you will find "just the right book" to share with others. Our goal is to keep the site updated with information about children's authors, book awards, and new releases. Each entry will include the book cover picture, a brief overview, bibliographic information, and suggested uses for families, librarians, and teachers. We will categorize books in several different ways, to facilitate searching.

Famous Face

GENRE: Wordless Picture Book READING/ ACTIVITY LEVEL: 5th grade
BRIEF OVERVIEW: This book offers over 2500 new celebrities faces for the students to create and imagine. They can also get the faces of famous histroical figures from years ago to the present.
INTEGRATED ACTIVITY: FINE ARTS: Students can watch video clips about each historical figure found in the book. Bring different props that can be found in this book and have them “create” a face and then dress up as the new character.
ENGLISH: Students will choose an actual real life character from the book and write a short story describing their appearance. Using as much description as possible so they paint an image of the person without the reader needing to see the pictiure. Students can research the person prior as well.
HISTORY: Students will write a research paper on the history of a chacter from the book. Their biography, where they lived, how they died, family information, why they are famous, and any other important information.
