Welcome to: A Book or Two: Children's Literature Reviews, a blog site that offers information on new, classic, and favorite children's literature, reviewed by university professors, classroom teachers, librarians, and those studying to become teachers. We hope you will find "just the right book" to share with others. Our goal is to keep the site updated with information about children's authors, book awards, and new releases. Each entry will include the book cover picture, a brief overview, bibliographic information, and suggested uses for families, librarians, and teachers. We will categorize books in several different ways, to facilitate searching.

Verdi

TITLE: Verdi
AUTHOR/ILLUSTRATOR: Janell Cannon
PUBLISHER: HMH Books for Young Readers PUBLICATION DATE: 1997
GENRE: Fiction READING LEVEL: Ages 8-10
BRIEF OVERVIEW: Verdi is a small yellow snake that enjoys zipping through the jungle and performing dangerous tricks. He doesn't want to be like the "lazy green snakes." However, when Verdi has a nasty crash, he has no choice but to lay still while he heals. During this time, Verdi becomes a green snake! He now understands that the green snakes were all just like he was when they were younger.
INTEGRATED ACTIVITY: In pairs, students will research different types of snakes. They will create a visual project and present it to the class.
