OVERVIEW: Archie
is a dog who owns a dog. One day, he finds a sewing machine and makes his dog a
coat. While out on a walk, he asks a woman walking a bulldog if she would like
a coat. Soon he has a dog coat-making business. He ends up making a coat for
the Queen of England. The message of the book is to follow your dreams.
INTEGRATED
ACTIVITY: Give students pieces of construction paper and have
them tear the paper and make a dog wearing a coat. They are not allowed to use
scissors. If the student does not like dogs, they can tear a picture of another
animal wearing a coat. Have examples that the students can model after.
