Welcome to: A Book or Two: Children's Literature Reviews, a blog site that offers information on new, classic, and favorite children's literature, reviewed by university professors, classroom teachers, librarians, and those studying to become teachers. We hope you will find "just the right book" to share with others. Our goal is to keep the site updated with information about children's authors, book awards, and new releases. Each entry will include the book cover picture, a brief overview, bibliographic information, and suggested uses for families, librarians, and teachers. We will categorize books in several different ways, to facilitate searching.

The Tale of Peter Rabbit

Author/Illustrator: Beatrix Potter
Copyright: 2004       Genre: Classic   Reading Level: 3-5yrs

Book Description: Peter rabbit is very mischievous and although his mother has already warned him not to enter Mr. McGregor’s garden he ultimately disobeys her. This story is very adventurous and keeps the audience on the edge of their seats waiting for what is going to happen next. The story is suspenseful and thrilling but it ends happily. It is a reminder to young children of the importance to listen and obey rules.
Integrated Activity: (kindergarten) After reading the story give each student a worksheet with pictures of scenes from the story and sentences that describe each picture. Students will color the pictures, match them with the appropriate sentence, and cut & paste each picture/sentence in the correct sequence.  This activity will help students practice sequencing skills and a good way to practice describing pictures through sentences (story comprehension also).
