Welcome to: A Book or Two: Children's Literature Reviews, a blog site that offers information on new, classic, and favorite children's literature, reviewed by university professors, classroom teachers, librarians, and those studying to become teachers. We hope you will find "just the right book" to share with others. Our goal is to keep the site updated with information about children's authors, book awards, and new releases. Each entry will include the book cover picture, a brief overview, bibliographic information, and suggested uses for families, librarians, and teachers. We will categorize books in several different ways, to facilitate searching.

Our Librarian Won't Tell Us Anything

BRIEF OVERVIEW: In this book, Robert is new to Liberty Elementary School. Every time that Robert plans to ask for help from the librarian, Mrs. Skorupski, his classmate, Carmen, insists that she will not tell them anything. By the end of the book, the librarian has taught both of them different things such as using the online catalog and working with multimedia products.
INTEGRATED ACTIVITY: After I read the book to the class, we will walk down to the school library. The librarian will teach us how to find books and how to use the catalog search on the computer. They will then each choose a different book and search for it in the online catalog and find their book on the shelves. Each student will take their books back to the classroom with them and have a silent reading time to read their book.
