Welcome to: A Book or Two: Children's Literature Reviews, a blog site that offers information on new, classic, and favorite children's literature, reviewed by university professors, classroom teachers, librarians, and those studying to become teachers. We hope you will find "just the right book" to share with others. Our goal is to keep the site updated with information about children's authors, book awards, and new releases. Each entry will include the book cover picture, a brief overview, bibliographic information, and suggested uses for families, librarians, and teachers. We will categorize books in several different ways, to facilitate searching.

Once a Wolf

AUTHOR: Stephen R. Swinburne
ILLUSTRATOR: Jim Brandenburg
PUBLISHER: Random House
  PUBLICATION DATE: 1999
GENRE: Nonfiction Picture Book                    READING LEVEL: 10+
BRIEF OVERVIEW: Surveys the history of the troubled relationship between wolves and humans, examines the view that these predators are a valuable part of the ecosystem and describes the conservation movement to restore them to the wild.
INTEGRATED ACTIVITY: I would divide the class into small groups and each group would be a different breed of wolf. I would use the computers in the classroom or library and have the groups research the specific breeds of wolf and present what they learned to the class.
