BRIEF OVERVIEW: This book is about segregation and the Jim Crow laws that prohibited African Americans from going certain places. She had to encounter & overcome in order to get to the place that was special to her which was the public library, where all are welcomed.
INTEGRATED ACTIVITY: The students would write a journal response about how those laws would have made them feel if they were around in that time period.
