Welcome to: A Book or Two: Children's Literature Reviews, a blog site that offers information on new, classic, and favorite children's literature, reviewed by university professors, classroom teachers, librarians, and those studying to become teachers. We hope you will find "just the right book" to share with others. Our goal is to keep the site updated with information about children's authors, book awards, and new releases. Each entry will include the book cover picture, a brief overview, bibliographic information, and suggested uses for families, librarians, and teachers. We will categorize books in several different ways, to facilitate searching.

Joey Pigza Swallowed the Key

AUTHOR: Jack Gantos
PUBLISHER: Square Fish; Reprint Edition
PUBLICATION DATE: July 5, 2011
AWARDS: National Book Award Finalist
GENRE: Realistic Fiction      READING LEVEL: Ages 10-14
BRIEF OVERVIEW: Joey is a very “wired” kid and in order to stay under control (sometimes) he must take his medicine or mistakes can happen like cutting off the tip of a fellow classmate’s nose. Joey has gotten himself into so much trouble that the only path that seems to be left is to go to the special facility downtown. Joey hopes that this will help him to not be such a “wired boy” or this might be his new school….permanently.
INTEGRATED ACTIVITY: Students will discuss the he way that the digestive system works and how certain objects get digested while others cannot.
REVIEWER’S NAME & AFFILIATION: Brittney Watts, Valdosta State University ECSE
